Battletoads is back. At the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing, gamers were rocked by the return of when Rash, Zitz and Pimple debuted an all-new adventure launching on Xbox One and available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for console! Recently, the aggressive amphibians have been content to share the spotlight in titles like Rare Replay, Killer Instinct and Shovel Knight, not to mention making their debut as must-have collectibles in Loot Crates and beyond. Now their time to shine toad slime has come, taking centre stage once more with Battletoads.Like the old-school beat-em-up style of the original games, this new Battletoads is an action-packed, side-scrolling brawler that sees the ‘Toads take on hordes of larger-than-life enemies in a frenzied, frog-fuelled fight across wild and weird landscapes. A unique fusion of gameplay styles means you’ll never know what’s around the corner – players need to expect the unexpected!Teamwork makes the dream work this time around, as Battletoads is a game that’s fun played solo but makes for an unforgettable three player couch co-op experience thanks to special team-up moves and gameplay elements that emphasise cooperation – no Toad left behind! Anyone can grab the controller and play, but fully mastering each level will take some serious skills – either way, you’ll look and feel awesome, not to mention have a hilarious time, while playing.Set to make a splash at launch, Battletoads is developed for the Xbox One family of devices as a collaboration between Rare and Dlala Studios. Battletoads has received its first gameplay trailer at Xbox’s E3 2019 press conference. After being announced at last year’s E3, it's been a long wait to get our first glimpse of what's on offer. The trailer features 3-player co-op as the three iconic characters: Rash, Pimple, and Zitz. Please check out the trailer below!Battletoads gameplayThe gameplay trailer of Battletoads features chaotic fighting in what appears to be a splitscreen-less co-op experience. This co-operative play is highlighted in the trailer as being traditional couch co-op. Furthering this, the states that the co-op is “drop-in, drop-out”, which should create an easy multiplayer experience.In classic Battletoads fashion, this latest entry will include adventure, fighting, and plenty of boss fights.
There also seems to be a focus on puzzles and platforming. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Battletoads game if there weren’t incredibly difficult racing sections.Despite the cartoon art style, the game will be available in 4K Ultra HD on supported platforms and will be part of the Xbox One X Enhanced collection of games.Battletoads is currently being developed by Rare and Dlala Studios and although it doesn’t have a release date, it is purportedly due out this year.
